We recently travelled to Geneva for a family visit and decided to upgrade to British Airways’ Club Europe class for a more comfortable experience on our early morning flight.
After a very short night’s sleep 🥱, we arrived at Heathrow Airport around 5:30 a.m. We headed straight to security and used the fast track lane, though it wasn’t as speedy as we’d hoped—it was a busy morning. 😅 Still, we made it through airport security in about 15 minutes, which wasn’t too bad overall.
Once we cleared security, we went straight to the British Airways Club Lounge at Terminal 5 South. It was a great place to unwind and grab some breakfast before our flight. The breakfast buffet had typical English breakfast options: scrambled eggs, baked beans, sausages, bacon, sautéed mushrooms, and hash browns. They also offered a selection of fruit, pastries, and snacks.
Personally, I’m not a fan of scrambled eggs 🙅🏽♀️, especially when they’re a bit too moist, so I opted for vegan sausages, baked beans, hash browns, and mushrooms, followed by some watermelon. 🍉 Yomi had the same, minus the mushrooms. 🍄🟫
If you know me, you know I love interior design, and I’d say the lounge design was modern and functional—nothing extraordinary, but comfortable. 🛋️
After about an hour of chilling in the lounge, it was time to board our flight. As with most BA European flights, the seats in Club Europe were comfortable. The middle seat is left unoccupied to provide extra space, which is great for storing personal items.
Since it was still early, we were served breakfast onboard. Yomi ordered a Kosher meal, which he enjoyed. He had a smoked salmon omelette with potatoes and a fruit salad. I didn’t order a Kosher meal, preferring to see what was available, but the only option was an English breakfast with pork bacon and sausages, so I settled for a couple of mini croissants. 🥐🥐
The flight itself was smooth and quick, and before we knew it, we had arrived in Geneva. 🛬
On our return trip to the UK, we used Avios points to upgrade our tickets and visited the BA Lounge at Geneva Airport. While the lounge had a clean and modern design, the food options left something to be desired. However, for those looking to calm pre-flight nerves, there were plenty of beverages and even a BrewDog bar for beer lovers.
Onboard, much like our outbound flight, the seats were comfy, and the staff was friendly. The meal options were chicken salad or beetroot salad. Since I was in row 7, one of the last to be served, the chicken option was gone by the time they reached me, so I had the beetroot salad, which was okay. 🥗 Yomi’s Kosher meal this time was a smoked salmon fillet, which unfortunately he couldn’t eat as we prefer our salmon cooked.
Overall, my Club Europe experience was decent, but not without its disappointments. The lounge offerings could have been better, and the meal options were limited. That said, the comfort and space on the flights were definite pluses.
Overall experience: 6/10
Lounge experience: 5/10
Flight experience: 6/10
