After leaving Bali (which honestly wasn’t the amazing experience I’d hoped for), Yomi and I parted ways—he headed to Singapore for work and I made my way back to London via Doha.
To make sure I was comfortable on the long trip home, Yomi insisted on upgrading my ticket to business class. That’s how I ended up flying Qatar Airways Qsuite—something I probably wouldn’t have booked for myself otherwise.
Here’s a look at my experience, plus my honest thoughts about whether it really lives up to all the hype.
Once I got on board, the welcome gift caught my eye—a little Diptyque set. It was a nice touch and smelled lovely. That said, because I tend to stick to natural products, it’s still sitting at home unused. Maybe one day I’ll get around to it… maybe.
Inside the kit was a body lotion, lip balm, face cream and a little perfume. ✨
Settling In
I’m not much of a champagne drinker, but since Yomi had gone out of his way to book the upgrade, I felt like I had to accept the welcome champagne. (Naturally, I didn’t finish it 😅). The welcome snack—a bowl of mixed nuts — was actually really good though.
Not long after takeoff, the food service started.
For my starter, I had the Indonesian-style coconut and vegetable soup. It was decent—nothing mind-blowing, but I have no complaints. 🍲
For the main, I had my eye on the braised beef short ribs… but they had already run out. I ended up ordering the Gulf-style chicken machboos instead. It was okay—edible, but definitely not something I’d rave about.
Later, I tried a little cheese from the cheese plate. The brie was good (I do like brie), but I wasn’t about to touch the blue cheese. No thanks. 🤢
If you’re curious, I snapped a photo of the menu—although no idea how often it changes. 🤷🏽♀️
After eating, I changed into the sleepwear set provided by The White Company (super comfy) and took advantage of the lie-flat bed and DND (Do Not Disturb) button for a undisturbed nap.
When I woke up, I looked out the window and saw the prettiest view—no idea where it was, but it felt like such a peaceful moment. 😍
After my nap, I asked for some complimentary snacks, watched a movie (One Love—it was okay but felt kind of unfinished), and just relaxed. The entertainment screen was a really good size—perfect for binging shows or movies.
Before we started descending, I made sure to order a second meal. This time I went for the beef rendang—one of my favourites. Again, it was good but not incredible. I mean, when is airplane food ever amazing? 🤔
Would I Fly Qsuite Again?
After around nine hours (partly spent sleeping) we landed in Doha.
Even though I wasn’t feeling 100% myself, the suite itself was great. Spacious, comfortable, and with thoughtful touches that made the flight feel a lot less tiring.
If I had to rate it:
Service: 8/10 (one flight attendant wasn’t super friendly, but I chalked it up to her being tired)
Food: 7/10
Qsuite itself: 9/10
Would I book Qsuite again if the opportunity came up? Absolutely.
