When we decided to take a reward flight to Santorini, it wasn’t out of excitement—it was out of necessity. Yomi had points that were about to expire, and Santorini felt like the only option that made sense. I’d been to Greece twice recently and, truth be told, I thought the island was overhyped.
But when October rolled around, we boarded that flight for a spontaneous long weekend. I was expecting little. I left feeling rested, grateful—and genuinely surprised.
After a busy season and a fast-paced trip to Asia earlier in the year, this trip felt like a pause I didn’t know I needed. The October sun welcomed us with open arms, and each morning began with golden light streaming over our private pool patio. I soaked up the warmth, vitamin D, and peace in equal measure.
One morning, I caught the sunrise and was reminded again of God’s artistry. Every sunrise and sunset, He reveals His glory—sometimes we’re just too busy to notice.
We stayed at Magma Resort Santorini – The Unbound Collection by Hyatt. The design was beautiful, and the staff made us feel genuinely cared for. I didn’t capture any footage—something I usually regret—but this time, it felt right. Sometimes presence matters more than content.
Santorini isn’t exactly known for budget-friendly dining, but a few places stood out:
We took an afternoon trip to Oia for ice cream, a bit of shopping, and lunch. Sadly, the food there didn’t live up to the rest of the trip—it was too salty and underwhelming. Still, Oia itself was charming and picturesque.
That reward flight to Santorini turned out to be a reminder that sometimes the best trips are the ones we don’t overthink.
We rested, sunbathed, and soaked in the beauty of the island. It was a peaceful pause in the middle of a full year—and now I understand why people keep returning.
