I’ll admit, I have long struggled to comprehend how one could live up to the standard of this incredible ‘Proverbs 31 Woman’ — The Virtuous Wife.
It’s almost overwhelming thinking about all that she does. Here I am struggling to get up before 9am each morning, yet she “rises while it is yet night,” (Proverbs 31:15) and manages to accomplish so much.
Whilst I don’t believe that we are called to busy ourselves with all the things, I understand that we are called to be fruitful and to make the best use of the talents we’ve been blessed with.
Proverbs 31:10-31 is a passage of scripture I’m still in the process of comprehending, however much like the entirety of Proverbs, there is so much value and wisdom to obtain. Here’s what the ‘Proverbs 31 Woman’ has taught me about entrepreneurship:
“She considers a field and buys it; From her profits she plants a vineyard.” ━ Proverbs 31:16 NKJV
As business owners, it’s important that we invest back into our business by looking at other ways we can make profit and grow the business. Furthermore, it’s crucial that before we make large investments, we consider whether it is feasible through prayer and reflection.
“She perceives that her merchandise is good, And her lamp does not go out by night.” ━ Proverbs 31:18 NKJV
Letting go of imposter syndrome or any form of comparison, it’s important to acknowledge that the talents we possess are good. God blessed us with them, therefore they are good and perfect (James 1:17). With dedication and grace we can accomplish all that He calls us to. Keep creating.
“She makes linen garments and sells them, And supplies sashes for the merchants.” ━ Proverbs 31:24 NKJV
With materials, she makes clothing to sell to customers and also sashes to sell wholesale. Her streams of income are not limited, neither is the way she conducts business. It’s important that we remain open to the many ways God can use our talents to bless others and to provide for ourselves and our families.
