Are you ready to savour the mouthwatering goodness of our sweet & spicy sticky chicken wings?! These wings have managed to steal the spotlight from my beloved Sweet & Spicy Mango Chicken Wings, although my husband remains a solid fan of the mango version. After the enthusiastic response I received when I posted a picture of these wings on Instagram, I felt compelled to share this recipe. Whether you’re throwing a party or having a cosy gathering, these wings bring the perfect blend of sweet and savoury to your table.
Serves: Approximately 20 wings | Prep time: 1 hour (excluding overnight marinating) | Cooking time: 50 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1kg chicken wings
- mild curry powder
- smoked paprika seasoning
- garlic & herb seasoning
- pink himalayan rock salt
- 80g sriracha sauce
- 50g honey
- 50ml water
- 30g crunchy peanut butter
- 15ml coconut aminos
- 10ml fish sauce
- 10ml apple cider vinegar
Method:
- Prepare your chicken according to your preference. I like to soak them in a mixture of vinegar and water for about 20 minutes. I then pat the chicken dry with paper towels to remove excess water before seasoning.
- Halve your chicken wings to create approximately 20 drumettes and 20 wingettes.
- Season the chicken with mild curry powder, smoked paprika seasoning, garlic & herb seasoning and pink himalayan rock salt. Ensure the seasoning coats all the chicken wings thoroughly.
- Place your seasoned chicken wings into a storage container in the fridge and marinate overnight.
- When ready to cook, oven-bake the chicken at 200°C/400°F for 30 minutes until fully cooked.
- While the chicken is in the oven baking, prepare your sauce in a pan. Combine the sriracha sauce, honey, water, crunchy peanut butter, coconut aminos, fish sauce and apple cider vinegar into a small saucepan and cook for about 10-15 minutes until the sauce darkens to a caramel colour.
- Once the chicken is cooked, coat one side with the sauce and grill for about 10 minutes until crispy. Flip the chicken to coat the other side and grill for another 10 minutes.
- After cooking, you can add any remaining marinade to the chicken wings before serving.
- Lastly, enjoy!
